Certain models are difficult to attach or detach from the base, though. The Doona Combo, for example requires a two-step attachment procedure and straps that are placed over the infant carrier's bottom part. It's tempting to skip the steps however it could lead to dangerous outcomes.

In the same way certain models are difficult to fold and put away making them less convenient than others. The Graco FastAction 3-in-1 Car Seat Stroller, for example, is difficult to fold due to its massive dimensions and heavy frame. Some reviewers are also disappointed by the canopy on this model disappointing. However the Britax Parkway Click and Go Combo is simple to fold with just the pull of a lever and a snap of the button. This model is a fantastic choice for parents who want to use their car seat in the other vehicles, since it can be easily detached from the base.

Easy to Fold

It doesn't matter if you're keeping the car seat on its own, in the trunk of your vehicle or even in the closet, it should be easy to fold and unfold. The most effective combinations we've tested feature simple one-handed fold that is compact and sturdy enough to use on long strolls. They're also easy to maneuver, moving smoothly over bumps and uneven surfaces. Some combos are linked and disengaged by straps. This can be a bit like a second step, and can make it more difficult for parents to secure their child's car seat correctly.

The BOB Revolution Flex Combo is an excellent choice due to its robust construction and convenient features, including a large storage bin that can be accessed from the front or back. SafeCenter LATCH, a unique feature of the BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Combo, makes it easy to install car seats by connecting the lower anchors and securing the straps.

It is also relatively light which makes it a great choice for families or frequent travelers who have multiple vehicles. Both the Baby Jogger City Mini GT 2 Combo and the Thule Urban Glide 2 scored very well in our ease of use tests. Both come with one front wheel that's simple to push (one-handed! Both have one front wheel that is easy to push (one-handed!). They also have a movable spinner wheel, ideal for shopping or running errands. The only issue is that they are heavy and may be difficult to lift up when carrying a baby in the car seat.

Easy to Assemble

Some car seat and stroller combos can be difficult to put together. We discovered that the UPPAbaby Cruz v2 Combo was one of the most simple to put together. It even comes with a quick-start guide that makes putting this travel system together easy. Other models, such as the UPPAbaby Minu and UPPAbaby Vista v2, Thule urban Glide 2 and Baby Trend Snap-N-Go EX Universal were also fairly easy to assemble. The BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Combo however is a bit difficult to put together. It requires two steps to attach the lower anchors, and using straps to protect the bottom of the carrier. It's heavy, so it takes two people to snap the carrier in the base, and then remove it.

In our tests we took about 5 minutes to put the UPPAbaby v2 together, which is a bit rapid when you consider the amount of time it saves by not having to remove the pieces. Most of these models have an easy process for attaching and detaching the toddler seat, but there are other options as well.
