The Kolcraft Cloud Plus is one of the most easy models to fold. It can be done with one hand and even while your child is inside (although this isn't recommended). It also unfolds quickly, and comes with a movable handle for when you're at different heights from your companion. The flat overhead sun shade does little to block the rays though and the undercarriage isn't as spacious as some other strollers.

For a lightweight stroller that's also suitable for travel take a look at the Silver Cross Jet 4. It folds into a compact package and then rolled up like a suitcase to fit in most overhead bins on planes. The stroller is easy to carry with either a padded handle or strap. The Jet 4 is a bit on the pricey side, but it's packed with lots of parent-friendly features such as a deep recline and UPF 50plus canopy.

The UPPAbaby G-Luxe is another great travel stroller. It folds down into the shape of a triangle and is about the size of backpacks for babies. It has plenty of storage space for a diaper bag and weekender bags, with a back pocket and two parent cupholders. The G-Luxe's features are restricted by the fact that it doesn't recline fully and lacks a convenient carrying strap. However, it's a great option for families that are constantly in motion.

When it is time to fold and carry it's impossible to get more compact than the Cybex Libelle. It folds down into a rectangular shape that is as thin as the thickness of a passport. It can be easily put into a backpack or purse. It can be carried along the aisles of an aircraft and is perfect for checking gates, cabin storage or even for storage in overhead compartments.

Carry it easily

In addition to taking up less space in your car, light strollers are easy to carry and store using a carrier making them perfect for families on the go. Some fold down to the size of an umbrella double pram and pushchair you can store them in the corner of your car trunk or even in your diaper bag when not in use. Some have handles, while others have straps that are padded and can be carried over your shoulder.

The smallest strollers fold into an oval shape and measure just 12x14x7 inches once folded, well within airline carry-on restrictions. The Pockit is a good example. It requires two steps and requires both hands to fold, but it is so light you can carry it like a backpack or tote. Another option that is compact is the Cybex Libelle, which is slightly taller than the Pockit, Cheap Stroller and folds into a rectangle shape but measures 13x18x7 inches when folded.

Lightweight strollers may not perform as smoothly as full-size strollers that have larger wheels and more serious suspension systems, but they are an excellent option for maneuvering restricted spaces such as airport terminals or narrow aisles on public transportation. They can also be used on rough terrain such as cobblestone streets and sandy beaches, but your child is likely to suffer more bruises and bumps than in a high-end full-size stroller that has a strong suspension system.

The UPPAbaby Minu stroller is a fantastic model of a stroller that is light that offers a lot of functionality for the price. Its suspension can handle rough terrain, it comes with a good canopy (though not as much coverage as our top choice), and the recline mechanism is simple and simple to use. It doesn't fold down as compactly as the Yoyo2 and Munchkin Sparrow, nor does it weigh as much as the Bugaboo Butterfly. You may need to gate-check this stroller when traveling on flights. It does come with an innovative feature, however it has a retractable footrest, which doubles as an handle when the stroller is folded.

Another great option is the Contours Quick Elite, which can fit 30 different car seats (adapter required) or a child up to 50 pounds.
