Choosing a Double Umbrella Stroller

When looking for a double umbrella stroller, it is important to consider your family's needs and priorities. This will allow you to narrow your choices and concentrate on the most important features.

my-babiie-mb30-pushchair-from-birth-to-4Uppababy G-Link 2 is an excellent, upscale double umbrella stroller that's manufactured well and folds down compactly. It has large canopies and an enormous storage container. It is also very simple to move.

Lightweight

The top double umbrella strollers provide lots of features in a compact, light package. They're not as heavy as a standard stroller or jogger and they're generally smaller when folded, too. They don't have the bells or whistles that you'll find on large strollers, but they typically come with large canopy with ample storage space, and reclining seats.

A compact double umbrella stroller is a popular option for families who travel together. It folds easily and fits into most carry-on bags or trunks for airplanes. It is also a great alternative for narrow doors and busy streets. It's cheaper than more feature-rich "travel stroller" that you could take for walks on a daily basis.

Some of the top double strollers like the UPPAbaby G-Link 2 have features that aren't found on the lighter models. This double umbrella stroller includes hanging storage pockets and trays inside each seat for kids' toys and snacks, as well as two cup holders for parents. The streamlined design makes this double umbrella stroller among the most compact available. It also has an extra wide canopy to safeguard both seats.

Some other options that are light such as the Joovy Kooper X2, have more bells and whistles that you would expect from a double umbrella stroller, including a more comfortable ride for both children thanks to padded seating and a deeper recline in each seat. The more features you choose the more weighty the stroller. Additionally, due to the way these strollers are able to open and close it is important to be careful not to let little fingers get caught on hinges or frames, especially when your child is in a seat or a chair.

Compact

The smallest double umbrella strollers when folded are easy to maneuver and fit in tight spaces. They're an excellent option for parents who intend to use their stroller frequently on sidewalks, at shopping centers, or to travel around tourist destinations like the aquarium, zoo or museums. These lightweight, compact strollers may also be ideal for commutes or as a substitute for the heavier, more feature-packed stroller when traveling.

There are two types of double umbrellas that are lightweight one of which is one with a limited number of features and those that include numerous convenience and comfort features in addition to their small size and lightweight weight. Some of the most effective examples include nice-sized pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows with padding seats, 5-point safety harnesses in both seats as well as reclining seats and adjustable leg rests. You should also think about whether you'd like a car seat attachment or a tray for the parent and the amount of storage space that is available in each seat.

The Delta Children LX Double Umbrella is a great example of a basic minimal, simple option that is extremely light and affordable. The stroller weighs just 18 lbs, has a handy carrying strap and can be stored in the trunk of your car or front hall closet. Its front wheels are precision technology and can swivel to give you an easier ride and smoother steering. Another option that is highly recommended is the brand new Kinderwagon Hop, a super narrow tandem umbrella stroller that's ultralight and easy to navigate through doors. The model was out of the market for a couple of years however, it's back in production and is worth a look. It also comes with three panels of canopy that provide better sun protection than smaller models.

Easy to Fold

The most basic umbrella strollers fold down like an umbrella and weigh less than other models. They are easy to carry, lift and stow and are ideal when you don't want to bring your full-size stroller for any reason (traveling by plane, touring in a new country, visiting grandma). These strollers are usually less feature-rich than full-featured models, but they should offer the basics like storage space and a sun canopy.

The G-Link 2's newest version is smaller, lighter and has an efficient wheel structure on the front that enhances its maneuverability and pushability. It's a great option for a double stroller. And it's approved by Disney!

A double tri-fold stroller like the Joovy Kooper X2, offers all the comfort of a stroller that has an umbrella design, but is comparable in size to a regular full-size stroller. This kind of stroller is replacing the traditional double umbrella stroller. It may be your best choice if looking for a lightweight, versatile stroller.

Most double umbrella strollers that we recommend are side-by-side models. The exception is the Kinderwagon Hop, a tandem umbrella stroller that's super light and easy to fold (though it's also quite small in width). This is a great choice if you want a simple, cheap double buggy for twins umbrella stroller you can easily throw in your trunk for short trips. It even has two storage bags hanging from the backs of each seat as well as parent cupholders. It's so basic, it might not help your children get through the airport without making them cranky--but it can make the journey more enjoyable.

Comfortable Seats

Most umbrella strollers don't have any bells and whistles because they are intended to only take two children from one location to B. That means they usually offer seats that are comfortable and roomy but do not have recline options or all-terrain wheels.

The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is the exception. It is a compact and lightweight double umbrella stroller that comes with two seats that weigh only 18 pounds. This makes it an ideal choice for travelers. It has a great suspension, a massive three-panel canopy that easily shields kids from the sun, and plenty of storage space in both seats, though not quite as much as our top selections. It also has the important 5-point safety harnesses on both seats, as well as peek-a-boo windows in their canopy.

One drawback of the G-Link is that it does not have the belly bar and snack tray that we love to see in our top picks, but those aren't essential features for an umbrella stroller anyway. Like any umbrella stroller, it should be handled with care so that fingers--whether your own or a child's--don't get stuck in the hinges of the frame that fold and mechanisms.

The seats in a double pram buggy umbrella stroller are usually side by side, but there are some models that are inline (one seat behind the other). Inline models can be easier to maneuver through doorways than side-byside models, but they usually have a difference between seating features which could cause your kids to fight over who gets the best seat. Our previous test subjects were evenly divided on this matter It's an individual choice.

Safety

The safety of your children must be the top consideration when choosing a stroller, and the design of double umbrella strollers can affect the quality of its operation. Although it's difficult to find a lightweight double stroller that can provide the same level of safety as larger strollers, some models are close. These strollers usually have 5-point harnesses, calf and foot rests for children, and an extendable, pushchairsandprams UPF 50+ sun visor. They are also usually narrower and lighter than other double umbrella strollers making them easier to maneuver in tight spaces such as airports or city streets.

Certain models, such as the Kinderwagon Hop are side-byside and are easy to push in small spaces. This stroller is an excellent option for parents who are traveling with young children and require a quick and convenient way to get around. It's also compact enough to easily fit into a trunk or storage space.

Another model worth looking into is the UPPAbaby G-Link 2, which is one of the most light double umbrella strollers that we test. It features a surprisingly sturdy design for an umbrella and features a large, accessible storage basket, reclining seats and a peek-a-boo window. The seat is also able to hold 35 pounds and is in line with Disney stroller dimensions.

Other models, like the Jeep PowerGlide Double Stroller, might be simpler in design and not have as many features. However they are extremely light and can be utilized as a backup for travel purposes on occasion. These strollers are also less expensive than renting one for a whole vacation or trip. They're also easy to fold, lift, carry, and stow away.
