Counter Strike New Revealed
Valve finally announced Counter Strike New after weeks of rumors. It's an update to CS:GO that will bring the game onto the Source 2 engine and make some major visual changes.
It also introduces responsive smoke grenades and sub-tick updates for servers. It has got a lot of armchair gamers going crazy but it looks like an incredible upgrade for regular players.
Smokes
Counter Strike New has a huge update that will change the way smokes are used in the game. These changes, known as responsive smokes, are a game changer. Smokes will now expand to fill spaces naturally and move around objects on the map. They will also react to the lighting of the game, making them look better and more realistic. Smokes will also be able interact with gameplay events. This will provide new tactical opportunities. For instance, bullets could force smoke to briefly make clear sightlines, while Hex grenade explosions will disperse smoke obstruction.
The biggest change to smokes is that they'll be a more dynamic element of the game. Smokes in earlier versions were a fixed-shaped object with a limited ability to move and blocking. However, the new smokes will expand to cover the space they're in and block more of the player's view when they are in it. This is a significant improvement that will make the game more dynamic and give both teams the same visibility.
Smokes will also react to light, weapons, and environment in the world space. This makes the smoke appear more realistic and allow players to use it in a variety of ways to gain an advantage over their opponents. This is especially beneficial in the chaotic 5v5 matches which are bound to occur on every map.
Smokes won't be one-way which was a major issue in CSGO and allowed players to see their opponent's location from behind the smoke. Twistzz is a well-known CS:GO professional who believes the new system makes CS2 more fair for both teams.
Other minor improvements include changing the vertical position of smoke particles to decrease the impact of edges, case chroma and updating spectators smoke overlay images so they are in line with their camera's position. Finally, the expiration of smokes has been updated to be more in accordance with the visuals of how they fade onto the screen.
Loadouts
The CS:GO players are now able to customize their weapon selection prior the start of each match. The revamped loadout system allows players to choose the weapon that best fit their style of play and team's strategy. The updated system adds new depth to the game, as players must find a balance between firepower and utility.
In addition to the new loadouts in addition to the new loadouts, the CS: GO update includes several other improvements and changes. The buy menu was completely revamped. The old buy wheel has been replaced by an adjustable grid that displays all available purchase options simultaneously. The grid is populated with five pistols as well as five "mid-tier weapons" such as submachine guns, shotguns, and rifles.
The new system is simple to use and gives players more control over their weapon choices. They can pick the weapon that best fits their style of play, team strategy and experiment with various combinations. They can also compare their loadouts to other players and see how well they stack up.
Many players have praised the added flexibility, while some have criticized it for straying from the essence of Counter-Strike. They also expressed concerns about how it could affect the loadouts for specific maps and agents' skins based upon visibility.
In spite of these criticisms the new loadout method will be tested in greater detail in the coming months. It is possible that some of these issues will be addressed in future updates, therefore it is important to keep an eye on the site for more information.
In addition to the brand new CS: GO features, the new update also includes Workshop Tools which can be enabled in the game's settings menu. These tools enable community contributors to design weapons finishes, stickers, and maps. Additionally the update will live ban players who violate VAC guidelines during games.
The new CS: GO update is scheduled to launch later in the summer. Players can now check out the full list of new features and upgrades by visiting the official CS: GO site.
Sub-Tick Updates
The server updates the world of Counter-Strike in small intervals of time, referred to as ticks. Valve wants to ensure that CS: GO is responsive and smooth. The smallest delay can alter the accuracy of the shot. A new video highlights one of the biggest under-the-hood enhancements, also known as sub-tick updates.
Rather than an update of 64 ticks every millisecond, the CS: GO will now be able use sub-ticks (or as Valve calls them, "micro-ticks") to communicate with the server. Each of these tiny increments of time will be recorded by the client and sent to the server, which will return the updated game state to players. The servers will now know the exact moment you fired your shot or jumped, peeked, and other inputs.
The video doesn't cover everything. However it does state that each piece sent by the client has a date and time and that the server will gather all information in chronological order from all players prior to sending it back. According to the video it is believed that a CS: GO server will be able to send up to twice as much information as a 64-tick server.
This means that even when the tick rate of the game increased to 128 Hz, it will still be able handle your commands immediately. The micro-tick updates also reduce input lag by ensuring that the server responds to your commands without glitches or delays.
This is clearly only the beginning of the technical enhancements Valve is making to the game. The company is implementing dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve the way smoke interacts with the surrounding and is updating all maps with high-resolution lighting, textures and Case Chroma models. Source 2 tools and features will be used to update all CS cosmetics and weapons.
Maps
The coming update for Counter Strike New will bring new maps to the game alongside some old favorites that are getting facelifts. The updates are currently being tested in a limited beta. The first set includes an upgrade and touchstone map that will not see major changes to gameplay, while other maps have been revamped or rebuilt using the brand new Source 2 Tools.
Overpass is one of the maps that has been modified to make use of the new engine's unified lighting system. The map's eerie underpass has been flooded with daylight and makes the area spacious and less crowded. Smoke grenades are now expanding dynamically in order to fill in spaces, and interact with the light.
Another map that has been revamped is Italy, which has received a significant overhaul in texture lighting, structure, and lighting. The new version is also more balanced than its predecessor that was heavily CT-oriented. In the near future, fans can anticipate seeing classics like Aztec and Militia updated.
These maps won't be added to the competitive map pool, even though they are still playable. Train is an exception since it was removed from Active Duty but will still be played in tournaments. Valve hasn't yet decided whether the other maps taken from the pool will be reintroduced.
Helsingin Sanomat is the national newspaper of Finland. The newspaper's latest update has been deemed controversial. The news organization has been vocal in its criticism of Russia's actions in Ukraine, and the map takes inspiration from the city that was devastated by war in Donetsk. The map is dubbed de_voyna and contains numerous references to the conflict.
In the future, the developer will be releasing a set Source 2 tools for community map creators to make their own maps. This will include features such as improved lighting and reading of characters, as well as physically-based rendering that produces realistic textures and materials. It will also help in the implementation of real-world objects, Esports 2013 case chroma (Images.Google.Ms) like doors and windows. The update will be released in the summer of this year.
