ADD and Treatment

ADD and its treatment are usually connected to problems at school, work or home. The psychiatric condition can be difficult to diagnose and manage.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd in women treatment) is the most commonly used term for this psychiatric disorder. Mental health professionals use brain imaging using SPECT to determine ADHD.

Some of the symptoms are being easily distracted, forgetful, and unorganized. The use of stimulants and antidepressants may help.

Limbic ADD

The most common form of ADD, also known as classic ADD or hyperactive-impulsive ADD, is characterized by inattention, a lack of organizational skills, difficulty staying on task, and trouble with memory. Brain scans reveal that those suffering from this condition have normal activity in the prefrontal cortex at rest and during concentration, however they have less activity in the cerebellum and basal ganglia, which are responsible for the production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter which enhances focus, motivation and calmness. This type has a shorter attention span, and is easily distracted by sounds or other stimuli and is unable to switch attention. They have trouble falling asleep, and often wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety. They often feel overwhelmed by emotions and have an impulsive personality, getting quickly frustrated with tasks and easily annoyed.

Ring of Fire ADD is distinguished by all the typical ADD symptoms however, it also has a difficulty in shifting their attention between thoughts and from one task to another. They are sensitive to light, sound and even touch. They talk too fast and are indecisive. They can experience periods of agitation and fatigue, are quick to anger and are prone to relapse into negative thoughts and guilt feelings.

It is possible to mistake limbic ADD with depression. However, it is different because it increases activity in the limbic area of the brain when it is at rest and when concentrating. It can be treated with supplements such as L tryptophan (5-HTP), saffron and inositol, which improve alertness, mood and clarity. Amino acid GABA can also be helpful to calm neural activity, inhibiting nerve cells from firing irregularly or in excess.

It is crucial to differentiate between ADD and mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder, which also can trigger irritability, anger, and poor self-esteem. The difference between ADD with Limbic Symptoms and Bipolar Disorder is that ADD is more consistent in its level of irritability over time. Bipolar Disorder tends to exhibit symptoms that appear in waves.

Overfocused ADD

Over-focused ADD patients often get stuck in negative thoughts and behaviors that cause excessive worry. They exhibit rigid behavior patterns that are similar to those of people suffering from Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) which is why it's often mistakenly diagnosed. These individuals often become threatened emotionally when required to shift their focus from one thing to another and respond with an argumentative or hostile behavior.

These people are likely to have an inability to keep their cool, with their irritability coming from a constant low-grade sadness or negativity "glass half-empty syndrome" and frequently feeling hopeless and worthlessness. They may also struggle with memory issues, experience extreme anger, and are prone to having a short fuse.

People with overfocused ADD might be rigid when it comes switching tasks and can become absorbed in their work or hobby. They are more likely to miss deadlines at work and not remembering appointments at home, and they may not finish chores or school assignments. They can also be very stubborn and [empty] resentful if they are disciplined or punished by their teacher or parents.

Children with hyperfocused ADD can be irritable and stubborn, and can throw temper tantrums if their needs are not being accepted. They might be obsessed with a particular activity, toys and video games. They may also have trouble expressing their feelings and be very sensitive to rejection or criticism.

This type of ADD is more prevalent in children, and is difficult to identify. Children who exhibit this type of behavior are often unable to comprehend that their problems are caused by a lack of ability to switch their focus from one task to another. This is the reason it's crucial to seek help from an expert, since children with this type of behavior are more likely to be misdiagnosed by family doctors and even psychologists. This kind of ADD can be treated with nutritional modifications, supplements and cognitive-behavioral therapies. Some medications are prescribed, but this kind of ADD can be difficult to treat using stimulant drugs, since they can raise a person's levels of hyperactivity. Functional neuroimaging can be used to identify the seven distinct kinds of ADD and is especially helpful for diagnosing overfocused ADD.

Anxious ADD

Psychiatrylogo-IamPsychiatry.pngMany people with ADD suffer from a high level of anxiety. Comorbidity, which is having multiple disorders simultaneously is a common occurrence and affects up to half of those with ADD/ADHD. Stress and anxiety may mimic the symptoms of ADD/ADHD. Incorrect diagnosis can result in inappropriate treatment and anger.

Anxious ADD can cause issues at work, in school, or with social situations. This type of ADD may lead to low achievement and feelings of being unsatisfactory. People with anxious ADD tend to avoid challenging tasks and events, believing they won't do well.

They are also afraid of being judged or critiqued. They also hide their issues from others. In some instances, sufferers are so stressed and anxious that they suffer from panic attacks. These panic attacks can be extremely severe and life-threatening. They trigger heart pounding sweating, difficulty breathing and difficulty breathing. Anxious ADD is distinct from Classic ADD because it has increased activity in the basal ganglia as well as the amygdala. These areas are instinctive and place a high value on security. This causes the brain to shut down the PFC, which can make it difficult for people with ADD to focus.

If a person with ADD/ADHD has anxiety their symptoms are generally more difficult to manage than those of a person who isn't suffering from anxiety. This is because treatments for ADD/adhd treatment adults in women treatment (Https://bidstrup-vick-2.federatedjournals.com/), that are designed to increase brain activity, can actually increase anxiety among people with anxiety-related ADD.

Amen Clinic psychiatrists utilize functional neuroimaging techniques like SPECT scans to identify the areas of the brain where low and/or higher levels of activity are found. This allows them to differentiate between the seven different types of ADD and determine the most effective treatment for each patient.

To diagnose ADD/ADHD, a psychiatrist collects a full medical history and performs physical examination. In addition, he or will ask questions about mood and behavior to assess a patient's overall functioning. Sometimes, medications are used to treat ADD/ADHD, but most patients require other treatments too, including cognitive behavioral therapy as well as nutrition and exercise sleep strategies, desensitization and other techniques for relaxation. This can aid in improving their ability to manage their emotions and improve their overall functioning.

Temporal Lobe ADD

This type of ADD affects the temporal lobe within the brain, which is responsible both for memory and mood. People suffering from this type of ADD struggle to learn and store information and experience mood swings and suffer from extreme anger or aggression issues. They also are often affected by a variety of sensory issues, including experiencing a sense of déjà vu, seeing shadows or objects changing forms and hearing sounds that others don't. They are irritable, sensitive and easily overwhelmed.

The symptoms of this type of ADD are similar to those in Classic ADD, including short attention spans disorganization, difficulty in following instructions or staying focused, and procrastinating. This type of ADD does not cause hyperactivity or impulsivity. This kind of ADD is more common in women. People with this type of ADD might have low levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine which can cause feelings of depression and low self-regulation. Some of the symptoms include difficulty sleeping and feelings of anxiety or irritability.

In this case, qEEG scans of the ADD brain reveal that people with Overfocused ADD have difficulties shifting gears. They are experiencing normal activity in the anterior cingulate gyrus (the brain's "gearshifter"). They aren't able to shift from one task or thought to another, and they get stuck in negative thoughts and behaviors.

This is a form of ADD where people can be highly motivated and hardworking but they also tend to get distracted by mundane or insignificant tasks. They can get lost and become embarrassed or tired by their behavior. They might have a difficult relationship because they can be impulsive or reactive, and struggle with multitasking or working with other people. In some cases, they can suffer from depression or anxiety. They may be prone hallucinations and panic attacks. The use of medications for this kind of ADD are not recommended, as they don't address the underlying reason for the symptoms.
