Counter Strike New Revealed

After weeks of rumors, Valve has finally revealed Counter Strike new. It's a major update to CS:GO which will bring it onto the Source 2 engine.

It also brings sub-tick server update and smoke grenades that respond to. It's got a lot of armchair gamers going crazy but it looks like a huge upgrade for regular players.

Smokes

Counter Strike New has a massive update that will alter the way smokes are used in the game. These changes are being dubbed as responsive smokes and are a huge game changer. Smokes will expand to fill up spaces naturally and move around different objects on the map. They will also respond to the lighting of the games, making them appear more realistic. Rather than the 64-tick update that occurs every millisecond, the CS: GO will now be able to use sub-ticks (or as Valve calls them, "micro-ticks") to communicate with the server. The client will record each of tiny increments and then send them to the server. The server will transmit the updated game's state back to players. The servers will know exactly when you fired a shot or jumped or peeked.

The video doesn't provide all the information. However it does state that each piece sent by the client has a date and time and that the server collects all information in chronological order from all players before sending it back. According to the video it is believed that a CS: GO server will now be able to transmit more than twice the information as a 64-tick server.

This means that even if the tick rate of the game is increased to 128 Hz it can still handle your commands instantly. Micro-tick updates can also reduce input lag, ensuring that the server responds to your actions without any delays or glitches.

It's evident that this is just the beginning of the technological improvements Valve is making to the game. Maps
