Based on the size of the room and the amount of heat needed there is a broad range of 7kw multi fuel stoves. Certain models can be paired in conjunction with a boiler to provide home heating solutions and can cut down on energy costs significantly.
This model is DEFRA certified which means it can be used to burn wood and smokeless fuels in smoke control zones. It is backed by a five-year warranty and a large glass for viewing.
1. Portway Rochester
The Rochester Multi Fuel Stove is an elegant classic that is made of high-quality castings. The door has an elegant curve design. The Rochester also comes with a choice of cast iron multi fuel stove-in trim in polished silver or plain black finish. This A-rated Rochester stove is suitable for use in Smoke Control Areas, as recommended by DEFRA and can operate at a maximum heat output of 7kW. Optional Output Reducing Bricks are available to reduce the maximum output of heat to 5kW making this stove perfect for larger rooms.
This Rochester Multi-Fuel Stove comes with the most cutting-edge features designed to aid combustion and ensure control. With the primary and secondary air controls situated in the front of the stove it is easy to set the rate of combustion of the fire to suit the room and fuel conditions. The large glass display displays vibrant flames on the logs or smokeless materials, while a fully-active airwash system helps keep it free of any deposits. The Rochester can take log lengths up to 250mm (10'') and boasts an externally controlled riddling mechanism, which is ideal for burning wood or smokeless fuels.
The Rochester is SIA Eco Design 2022-ready and is compatible with a variety of woods and smokeless fuels including anthracite. Eco-design stoves produce a lot less emissions than older appliances and open flames, and are 3 times more efficient than an open fire which means they cost less to run. The Rochester comes with a 5-year warranty.
2. Ash
The Ecosy+ range comes with the Clean Burn Technology that ensures maximum heat and durability from your fuel. This feature is able to re-burn gasses and smoke produced by your logs and then sprays air onto your fire and glass to keep it clean. This means that you don't have to replenish your stove frequently, making it one of the most cost-effective multifuel stoves on the market.
The Ash is also a good choice due to its large ashpan that can be removed for easy maintenance. It also comes with a multi-fuel grate that lets you to burn wood or smokeless coal at the same time, and has a tertiary inlet to further improve the efficiency of combustion. It is a DEFRA-approved, Ecodesign-compliant stove that has clearSkies level five credentials. This means it emits 90% less carbon dioxide than a traditional open fire, and 80percent less than a stove not exempt from DEFRA.
Its modern design and straight lines makes it ideal for any type of home or fireplace. It can be installed in a recessed firebox, or you could install it into an existing chimney opening. Its clean lines make it a perfect option for a modern-looking wall or space where you would like the stove to blend in with your room's architecture.
Calculate the power output of your home by measuring its volume in cubic meters, and then dividing it by 14 for rooms with good insulation 12 for rooms that are standard-insulated, or 10 for bad insulation. Then add 20 per cent for central heating systems and a further 25 per cent for hot water usage.
4. Chilli Penguin 4.7
The Welsh stove company Chilli Penguin have built a solid reputation for their small, do-it-all multi-fuel stoves with low flue draught requirements. Chilli Penguin also produces stoves for yurts, houseboats and other smaller spaces. The company is committed to making eco-friendly products and has worked hard to reach high levels of environmental performance.
This model is an upgraded version of the Go Eco stove. The stove comes with a large glass window to clearly see the flames and an airwash system that ensures the glass is clean. The stove is DEFRA approved and meets the Ecodesign specifications to qualify as an 'Energy-Saving Stove'. It also has the level five ClearSkies certification, which means it produces significantly lower emissions than traditional open-fires (see the tech table below).
This top-loading stove features an enormous glass window, ideal to boil water. Its minimalist design allows it to be used in an elegant and comfortable space. The stove has a single air knob that lets you increase the air volume when fully opened, and manage it more precisely when closed.
It was easy to light and quickly began to warm the room even on a frosty night. It was simple to light and only took about half an hour to get to the temperature we wanted in the lounge. The stove comes with an angled combustion system and a dual-position riddling grates to ensure a more efficient combustion. It is environmentally friendly with low emissions and an energy efficiency of 80.3 percent. It's also easy to maintain thanks to simple controls and a convenient shaker grate.
This ESSE wood-burning stove is built with a traditional English cottage charm and large glass views of the flames. It can be set up as a back-flue or a front-flue stove, and it can be fitted with an External Air Intake kit that is ideal for airtight homes. This add-on creates an airtight flue system that enables the stove to draw outdoor air in order to reach its maximum efficiency.
