Noise

Refrigerators emit a wide variety of noises when they're operating. Certain noises are more obvious than others. Before calling a repair service, try to identify the source of any noises you hear.

Rattling

The american fridge frezzers could rattle if there is not enough space between it and the wall or cabinet or if it's sitting at an unlevel angle. This is easy to repair - all you need to do is ensure that there's at least a few inches of space on either side and then adjust the fridge legs or leveling screws to raise or lower it accordingly.

Hissing

The compressor could make a loud noise while cooling your food. This is a normal sound, and it is caused by the compressor's oil or refrigerant through the system. If you are worried you are concerned, track how often the compressor cycles. Contact a refrigerator repair service immediately when this occurs more frequently than usual.

Squeaking

The refrigerator may sound loud when their fans or coils are dirty. If you notice a fridge making a squeaking sound clean the coils or fan using a vacuum with a brush attachment or a rag and water or just use dish soap and water. It is recommended to do this twice a year or more frequently in the case of older refrigerators or heavily used.

Clicking

A click sound can be heard from a Under Counter fridge - black. It is usually caused by frozen air around the freezer fan. Manual defrosting can solve the problem, but it will return until a professional is brought in.

Clicking can also happen when the fridge is turned off, so make sure to restart it if this occurs. If you have an ice maker installed the sound could be caused by it. Be sure to switch it off when you are not using ice constantly.

The hum of your fridge is normal, and it may be louder at certain periods of the day or after large stockings or intensive freezing operations. This is because the refrigerator has to work harder and faster in order to keep your food cool however it isn't necessarily a sign of trouble with the refrigerator or its performance.

Dust

Dust in the house attracts dirt, bacteria and other microorganisms, and traces of daily exposures to chemicals in the home. The tiny particles can be breathed in and trigger allergic reactions and serve as an ideal place for microbes to grow, including some that may cause infection when they come into contact with wounds that are open.

Cleaning a refrigerator is impossible but regular cleaning can help to reduce dust and keep a more constant temperature. A dirty cheap under counter fridge also wastes energy as it overheats and is inefficient. If your fridge is producing more noise than normal or If you suspect that it is wasting energy by overworking it could be time to get it checked out.

In contrast to other airborne particles, dust doesn't just come in from outside, as is commonly believed. It is made up of resuspended dirt from the home, which can be contaminated by lead or other toxic substances. It also contains pollen, mold and car exhaust. It also contains a number of legacy pollutants, including DDT, which was banned 50 years ago.

Some compounds, such as flame retardants, such as decabromodiphenylether are able to volatilize and enter the air, however the majority of chemicals in dust in the house are transferred directly from one object to another like by smashing fibers and small pieces of plastic off of electronic equipment. High-molecular-weight substances, such as surfactants used in cleaners and paint strippers, also migrate directly into dust.

Aside from contaminating the food in the refrigerator, a dusty refrigerator can also affect your health. It can contain allergens, such as pet dander or droppings from cockroaches, which can cause asthma attacks and allergic reactions. It also contains bacteria spores like staphylococcus aureus, which can cause infections if they make their way into an open wound.

Researchers have found that contaminated dust is linked to a wide range of health problems, including cancer, cardiovascular disease leukemia and inflammatory intestinal disease. A recent study revealed that the homes of children who were diagnosed with leukemia were more likely to have higher levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, the PBDEs, and PCBs in their dust than the homes of healthy children.

Condenser Coils

When refrigerators are running properly, the coils on the back and front of the appliance should be able of dispersing the heat created by the compressor. If these radiator-like parts are covered with pet hair, dust or lint, the compressor has to work harder trying to cool the refrigerator, which wears down the unit. It's important to clean your coils regularly.

If you're looking to tackle the job yourself, it is recommended that you unplug the refrigerator from its outlet and switch off the power source prior to starting. This will reduce the risk that you or your family members could be struck by electricity while working on the appliance. If you're allergic to dust, it's a good idea for you to wear a face mask. You'll then have to find the coils. They are usually located on the back of the fridge or on the front, across the base of some models. If you are unsure where to look check the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for more information.

Once you've located the coils, you'll have to take off the access panel if you have one. Then, alternate between vacuuming the coils with an hose attachment that is narrow and rubbing them with a condenser brush for cleaning the coils. Be careful not to risk damaging or twisting the coils. When finished you can replace the kick panel or push the fridge into place and plug it back into.

You can employ a professional if you're not at ease doing it yourself. It's cheaper and simpler to maintain the cleaning routine to prevent the issue from occurring.

Maintenance

Refrigerators are tough-working appliances that run all day and at night to cool your food. To ensure they do their job effectively they require regular maintenance. This simple preventive maintenance can keep them running smoothly for years to come.

One simple thing to do is to wipe down the door seals. The gaskets can become clogged with jelly and other sticky food items and allow cool air to escape through tiny holes. Wipe them down with a solution of baking soda and warm water on a sponge or toothbrush every few months.

The fan in the rear of the refrigerator is another spot to check. It could be noisy if it's been clogged up with insulation, paper or even a mouse. Unplug the shelves, remove the shelves, the refrigerator, and take out all the parts that are removable. Vacuum cleaners with hose attachments can be used to clean the coils and the area surrounding them. Make sure to turn off the fridge back on after you're finished.

It's best to check the owner's manual for specifics about where to find the fan and coils and what cleaning tools you'll need. Also, you should read the warranty to make sure you know what's covered.
