Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even locate it via an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's front up on a clean surface. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin in between the cover of the fob and the fob, then carefully pull it up.

Remove the cover on the back of the key fob with your fingernail. A button should be placed beneath the cover on an angle, close to the edge of the body. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will break loose and slide off, revealing the manual blade! If you still can't locate the button, you can search the newly exposed manual key access to find whether there's a hidden slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

One of the nefarious features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to lower all windows immediately with them. This is useful when trying to squeeze into tight parking spaces or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.

To do this do this, press and hold down the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and the sunroof, if your car comes with one. Once you're done with the car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also activate the panic alarm in your car by using the key fob. This will emit an intense, enthralling roar that could frighten away thieves and help you get home safe after a long night out. This feature is handy if you live in a dangerous location, or want to keep your family safe when you are away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo has packed its key fob with lot of handy features. These are perfect when you're busy shopping for shopping or helping your kids to pack their sports gear after a workout.

For instance, if have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped), you can open it by using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button and volvo replacement key then close it by pressing the same button.

Switching off the Alarm

Modern key fobs offer a lot of convenience over a standard mechanical car key. However, they're not able to work in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries eventually go out of service. If you're in a hurry or don't want to visit a store to have your key fob reprogrammed, you can attempt to make it work at home.

Find a clean work surface and lay out your key fob, battery and other keys. Place the key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards and then find a small black button at the left-hand side of the fob and slide it downwards and to the right. The cover should fall off and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade beneath it.

Press the button to unlock the key fob twice quickly, and you will be able opening all doors and the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for 2 minutes, you are able to close the windows and sunroof when they're fitted. Connect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If not, the owner's instructions should include a reset procedure.
