Shark's robot vacuum checks most of the criteria you'd expect from a midrange machine. It has dependable cleaning performance and an easy-to use mobile app. It also provides precise maps of your home.
It also provides Matrix Clean navigation, a system that performs two passes that go back and forth, before moving side to side for complete coverage. Its base is bagless, unlike many other robot vacuums.
1. Roborock S4
This is a top-quality robot vacuum for bare floors that collects debris and has a huge dirt storage. Its smart pathing works very well, and the app lets you to manage cleaning and docking. The app also gives you a convenient cleaning overview including maps of the areas that the S4 has cleaned, cleaning duration, and battery life.
The S4's maximum suction is 2,000Pa, which is comparable to full-sized vacuums. With 19CFM the S4's side as well as combination brush is more to the front than in other Roborock models, which may be a way to cut down on the amount of clogging.
The S4's advanced mapping system can map a house up to four levels deep. It can also remember the areas that it has already vacuumed. This makes it easy to design a cleaning schedule and not have to manually move robots between rooms. You can also mark zones as no-go zones which will prevent the S4 from entering these areas during the cleaning process.
It was able to vacuum an entire level of our home with ease and was extremely effective on bare flooring. However, it had a difficult time picking up hair from dogs, which is a common issue for robotic vacuums. Only 8.5 percent of the hair was collected in the dustbin. The rest was clumped together around the brushes and suction intake.

2. Shark EZ Robot Self-Emptying
This Shark robot vacuum is a great option for pet owners who need an efficient, user-friendly machine. The self-emptying bagless base is a major benefit particularly when compared to competitors that use disposable dirt bags in their bases. You can empty the bin in a trashcan by simply removing it. It's messy, but it will save money on bags to replace.
The bin itself is also quite large, which means that the EZ Robot is capable of handling a good amount of debris. It also performs very well on floors with no carpet. However, it struggles with dirt embedded in low pile carpet. It also has decent navigation capabilities and a compact dock footprint.
The EZ cheap robot vacuum may not be as good as Roborock S4, but it is still a great option for those who are looking for a machine that can perform well and is affordable. It's well-built and has various automation features. It also boasts an impressive cleaning performance on floors that are bare and carpets with a high pile. Its maintenance requirements are high and its ongoing expenses are very high.
Another great feature of this Shark robot is its ability to recharge and automatically resume where it was when it returns to its docking station after a full cleaning session. This is an extremely useful feature particularly if you live in an extensive home.
The IQ XL is also equipped with a number of other useful features, such as the capability to remotely schedule entire-home cleans and review cleaning reports through the SharkClean app. You can also start clean, stop and restart cleaning sessions with voice control via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The row-by-row cleaning mode of the robot is a major benefit and it also will clean your entire home in neat rows instead of a snake-like pattern that is back-andforth like many other robots.
The IQ XL has a major disadvantage that is that it can't climb over obstacles like power cords. It might think they are solid barriers and fail to climb over them. It's also not as fast or efficient at maneuvering rooms that are stuffed with pet hair, which could cause brushes to get caught and slow it down.
3. Shark AI Robot
This is a solid robotic vacuum from Shark that offers a solid combination of features. It has a self-emptying bottom that can hold up to 30 days of debris. It it combines the power of both a robot vacuum and a mop. It comes with a matrix grid cleaning mode, and it has advanced smart home integration that works with Alexa and Google Assistant. It can be set to clean on a set schedule or on demand or set virtual boundaries to block it from entering rooms that have fragile items or rugs.
The Shark AI best robot cleaner does a excellent job of cleaning floors that are not bare. It can pick up dirt easily, such as rice. However, it has a hard cleaning larger bulky debris from low-pile carpet and isn't capable of moving around furniture. It has a do not disturb mode which allows you to use it at home without interrupting your routine.
It also uses LiDAR to map your home. This lets it detect and navigate obstructions more precisely than units that rely solely upon gyroscopes or infrared sensor. This helps it avoid collisions with fragile objects and optimize dirt pickup on various surfaces. The LiDAR system also performs faster than gyroscopes. This could cause the robot to slow down and lose control when it encounters uneven surfaces.
It has a fair number of other options, including an automatic mopping feature, a remote and various vacuum modes. It is able to charge and recharge itself while working. The biggest drawback is that it can only trace one floor of your house, so if you have two stories it will be necessary to manually carry it to the two floors during the first run, and then program it to repeat.
Another negative is that it can be a little noisy, best automatic vacuum especially in mopping mode. It also has many parts which need to be cleaned or replaced regularly, adding to the cost of maintenance. Fortunately, the base self-empty feature helps cut down on the costs associated with these items and it's compatible with bagless filters, which reduces its annual expenses.

The Shark ION Robot RV700 Series ticks off all the boxes that you'd expect from a midrange robotic vacuum. It has a reliable cleaning performance, a great mobile app that can create precise maps of your home, and great cleaning performance. It also has a bagless base which eliminates the need for annual dust bags replacement. In our cleaning performance test it was able remove 97.8 percent of the debris from carpeting with low pile and hardwood floors although it wasn't as effective on high-pile carpeting. Its maneuverability is sturdy, and it can easily navigate through furniture, climb onto high-pile carpeting and go over objects like rug tassels, electrical cords, and rug tassels without getting stuck.
Its high-tensile bristles in a helix pattern are sturdy enough to manage and untangle long hair, string and other fibers and the brushroll comes with an adjustable edge that can be utilized when it encounters obstacles. Its thin design allows it to coast underneath furniture, and proximity sensors assess and adjust to the surrounding obstacles. It can be activated to begin cleaning with a press of a button or scheduled for a daily schedule using the app. It has a moderate sound level, but it can be reduced by using the do-not disturb mode or the custom scheduling.
The RV700 is a bit more manual than the Roborock S4 and iRobot Roomba j7+ that is to be expected from a non-self-emptying model. It's nonetheless more durable and easy to maintain. It charges faster and removes more dirt from high pile and bare floors. Its navigation system can also create virtual boundaries and recognize obstacles making it the ideal option for "set it and forget it" robotic cleaners.
The RV700 Series does not have an incline sensor that could prevent it from falling down stairs. This could pose a problem for those who live in taller houses. It also can't mop and vacuum at the same time and requires users to switch between two modes of its application. The RV700 Series offers a cheaper alternative to more sophisticated Roborock and iRobot robots that come with self-emptying features and cliff detection. Its primary selling point is the fact that it can be recharged and empty while docked at its base. This makes it a great option for those who do not wish to empty the onboard dustbin each time they use it.
