Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car and start the engine, and even locate it via a smartphone application.

First, place the fob of the key on a clean work surface with the logo facing upward. Find the button that will release it. Place a coin in between the fob cover and the fob, and gently pull it up.

Locking the Door

Volvo's remote key fobs will unlock the tailgate, doors, and flap for filling up the fuel in your vehicle with a press of a button. Utilizing a fingernail to carefully remove the cover on the back of the key fob. A button should be placed underneath the cover on an angle near the edge of the body. Slide it downwards and to the right. The cover will then come out and slide off and reveal the manual key blade within! If you're unable to locate the button, take a look around the newly revealed manual key access to find a hidden lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

One of the lesser-known features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to close all windows immediately when you use the fobs. This is useful when trying to squeeze into a tight parking space, or simply when you want to get some fresh air inside the cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and the sunroof in case your car has one. After you've finished using the vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. This will produce a loud noise that will draw attention to the car and deter thieves. It can also help you return home safely in the event that you've been away all night. This feature is great when you reside in an area that is dangerous or wish to ensure your family's safety while away from home.

The opening of the Tailgate

Place your keys batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface. Find the small black button on the left-hand corner of the key fob. slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical structure underneath.

You can open all doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. The lock button will also close the windows and sunroof (if fitted) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it does not then the owner's manual should include a reset procedure.
