Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the vehicle or start the engine and even locate it.

Place the key fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Locate the button that releases it, wedge an object between the cover and the fob and pull it up slowly.

Unlocking the Door

Volvo's remote keys can unlock the tailgate, doors, and the flap that holds the fuel filler of your vehicle by pressing of a button. The remote key fobs also switch on the ignition and trigger the alarm. They can even operate the sunroof, if it is equipped. With these features, you'll never have to look for your keys again or lock yourself out of your car again.

If you own a brand new Volvo model from our dealership, then you may be unsure of some of its key fob's hidden features. One of these features is an unlocked/lock button that you can press in case the battery of your key fob fails.

To press the manual lock/unlock switch Hold your key fob with the volvo key finder logo side up. Locate the black button that is located near the edges of the key fob body and gently press it to open a cover that conceals a manual key blade. You will need a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip the cover counterclockwise, so the arrow is aligned with "open."

Beginning the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs offer the convenience and function that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. A key fob, like any other battery-operated device will lose charge over time. If you notice that your key fob has become less responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it might be time to replace its battery.

If your vehicle is fitted with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The vehicle will then cool or cheapest heat to the exact temperature it was set to when parked. It can run for up to 15 minutes.

Using a fingernail, carefully remove the cover from the back of the key fob. The button should be beneath the cover on a diagonal, near the edge of the body. Slide it to the right. The cover will come free and slide away, revealing the manual key blade! If you're not able to locate the button, take a look around the newly revealed manual key access for the lever or slot that is hidden.

Closing the Windows

Volvo key fobs feature an option that hides behind them that allows you to instantly roll down all the windows. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking spot, or even simply when you want to get some fresh air in your cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and repairer also the sunroof if your vehicle has one. Then, when you're finished with the car you can shut the doors by pressing the lock button for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob to trigger your car's panic alarm. This will make an alarm that is loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. It also helps you to get home safely when you've been out all night. This feature is helpful if you reside in an area that is dangerous or you want to ensure the safety of your family when you are away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo has loaded its key fobs with lot of handy features. They are ideal when you're slammed with shopping or helping your kids pack their sports gear after a workout.

For example, if you have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it by using the key fob. Simply press the button open it, and then press the same button to close it once you're done.

When you're ready to get your car started then use the key fob to press the START button (and do not worry about your battery dying or your car not starting because it has a backup mechanical key slot as well). This is among the many tricks that can be useful for your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are more useful than a traditional car key. But, they're not working in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries eventually fail. You can try to program your key fob at home if are in a hurry or don't have the time to visit a shop.

Find a smooth surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and extra keys. Locate the small black button on the left-hand corner of the key fob. slide it to the right. The cover should fall off and fall off, revealing the mechanical key blade underneath.

Press the button for unlocking the key fob two times quickly, and you'll be able to unlock all of the doors and the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can also close the windows and the sunroof if they are equipped. Connect the battery, and the alarm should cease. If it doesn't, the owner's manual should have a way to reset the alarm.
