Veterans Disability Lawsuit - How to File a veterans disability lawsuit (to Mspeech)
A veterans disability lawsuit could be a solution for a lot of veterans suffering from disabilities due to their military service. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers benefits to veterans, such as medical care and programs for veterans.
According to a lawsuit filed on Monday, Black veterans have disproportionately having a harder time in obtaining these benefits. The Yale Law School Veterans Legal Services Clinic filed the suit on behalf of Conley M. Monk Jr.
PTSD

A lawsuit that was filed by Black veterans and a Yale law clinic has found that the Department of Veterans Affairs has repeatedly denied disability compensation claims to Black veterans for a long time. NPR's Quil Lawrence reports that a whistleblower informed the vets that VA internal documents showed Black veterans were denied benefits more frequently than white veterans.
The lawsuit was filed by Marine Vietnam veteran Conley monk and Yale's Veterans Legal Services Clinic. The lawsuit refers to statistics that show that between 2001 to 2020, the rejection rate for Black veterans of disability claims was rejected at 29.5 percent, compared to 24.2% of white veterans.
The lawsuit seeks to recover compensation for Monk and Black veterans who were wrongfully denied benefits. It is also seeking to force the VA to review hundreds of other claims that were dismissed in error. The lawsuit was filed this week in federal court.
Traumatic Brain Injury
TBI can be mild, moderate or severe and symptoms may become visible or they may appear hours or even weeks after the injury. Some signs (headache dizziness, headache) are physical, while others may include emotional, memory, concentration or behavior issues. People suffering from TBI may experience problems with their emotions, concentration, or even behavior. TBI might also have difficulty getting around or with balance and vision.
The damage to the brain caused by a TBI can be caused by a blow, bump or jolt on the head, regardless of whether it was caused by a sharp force or penetrating cut (such as from a bullet). The impact can cause skull fracture, which may result in bleeding and swelling of the brain within the skull. The brain can swell and push against the skull, cutting off blood circulation. The injury may affect the whole brain or a specific lobe in the brain.
Some TBIs are classified as open while others are closed. The classification is dependent on whether or not the skull was fractured and whether the skull was open or closed due to the impact. TBIs can range in severity from a concussion to coma. People suffering from TBI are more at risk of developing depression, PTSD and other mental health conditions. Some research suggests that having multiple moderate to severe TBIs can increase the risk of dementia and other movement disorders later in life.

The condition can cause problems at work, home and even in relationships. It can also cause addiction, which can include the use of alcohol or drugs.
The symptoms can be treated using psychotherapy, such as eye movement desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) or cognitive processing therapy. Some sufferers of PTSD benefit from taking antidepressants, for example as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SNRIs. Medications can help to manage symptoms and make it easier to get through everyday tasks.
Some research is exploring how to prevent PTSD, including looking at the possibility that genes or the brain can affect a person's response to trauma. Other researchers are looking into how a normal response to stress transforms into PTSD and how to treat it in the early stages.
