add treatments for adults and Treatment

ADD and its treatment are often associated with problems at work, school or home. The psychiatric illness isn't easy to identify and manage.

The psychiatric disorder is often referred to as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD. Mental health specialists diagnose ADHD using SPECT brain images.

Some of the symptoms are being easily distracted, forgetful, and disorganized. Medications such as antidepressants and stimulants can help.

Limbic ADD

The most common form of ADD, also known as classic ADD or hyperactive-impulsive ADD, is characterized by inattention, a lack of organizational skills, difficulty staying on task, and trouble with memory. Brain scans show that people suffering from this type can maintain normal levels of activity during concentration and at rest in the prefrontal cortex however, they have less activity in their cerebellum and the basal ganglia. These areas help produce dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is responsible for motivation, tranquility, and focus. People with this type have a hard time shifting their attention, are easily distracted by distractions and noises, and have shorter attention spans. They also have difficulty sleeping and frequently wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety or nightmares. They are easily frustrated and often get angry.

Ring of Fire ADD is distinguished by all the typical ADD symptoms, but also by difficulties in shifting their focus from one thought to another and shifting their focus from one task to the next. They are sensitive to noise, light, and touch. They talk too fast and are impulsive. They have periods of moodiness and low energy levels, are quick to anger, and get stuck on negative thoughts and guilt feelings.

It is possible to mistake the symptoms of limbic ADD with depression. But it is different because it increases activity in the limbic region of the brain during time of rest and during concentration. It can be treated by supplements like L tryptophan (5-HTP) as well as saffron, inositol that increase alertness, mood and mental clarity. Amino acid GABA is also helpful to slow neural activity, preventing nerve cells from firing irregularly or in excess.

It is crucial to distinguish between ADD and mood disorders, such as Bipolar Disorder, which can result in frustration and irritability, as well as low self-esteem. The difference is that ADD with Limbic Symptoms has a more constant level of frustration and irritability over time, whereas Bipolar Disorder symptoms tend to come in waves.

Overfocused ADD

Over-focused ADD patients tend to get caught up in negative thoughts and behaviors which cause excessive worry. They exhibit rigid behaviors that are similar to those of people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) which is the reason it's often mistakenly diagnosed. They can be emotionally upset when requested to switch their focus between activities and may respond by displaying a hostile or argumentative attitude.

They are often unhappy and their irritability may be caused by chronic low-grade sadness or negative mood. They may also struggle with memory issues, experience extreme anger, and are prone to having a short fuse.

People who have hyper-focused ADD can be rigid when it comes to changing tasks and become engrossed in their hobbies or work. They may not remember appointments or deadlines at home or at work, and they may not complete their schoolwork or chores. They can also be stubborn and resentful if they are punished or reprimanded by their teacher or parents.

Children with hyper-focused ADD exhibit a high level of stubbornness and irritability, and may be susceptible to throwing a rage when their interests are trampled on. They can be obsessive about particular toys, activities, and video games. They can also have difficulty expressing their feelings and be very sensitive to criticism or rejection.

This type of ADD is more prevalent in children and can be difficult to identify. Children who exhibit this behavior often have trouble understanding that their issues are caused due to the inability of them to shift their attention between tasks. This is the reason it's crucial to seek out help from an expert, since children with this type of behavior are more likely to be misdiagnosed by family doctors and even psychologists. This kind of ADD is usually treated with diet changes, supplements, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. This type of ADD is difficult to treat even with stimulant medications due to the fact that it can cause the intensity of hyperactivity. Functional neuroimaging is a method to differentiate between the seven different types of ADD. It is particularly helpful in diagnosing overfocused ADD.

Anxious ADD

psychology-today-logo.pngMany people with ADD suffer from high levels of anxiety. This co-morbidity (having more than one disorder simultaneously) is common, affecting up to half of all sufferers of ADD/ADHD. Stress and anxiety may mimic the symptoms of ADD/ADHD. Incorrect diagnosis can lead to unsuitable treatment and frustration.

Anxious ADD can cause problems with school, work, shorl.com and social situations. This kind of ADD may result in low performance and feelings of inadequacy. People who suffer from anxiety ADD avoid difficult tasks or events because they are afraid they won't be successful.

They also fear being judged or criticised. They also hide their issues from others. People with anxiety can become so stressed and anxious that they have panic attacks. These can be dangerous and life-threatening, resulting in sweating, a pounding heart, and difficulty breathing. Anxious ADD is different from Classic ADD because it has an increased activity in the basal ganglia and the amygdala. These areas are instinctive and prioritize security. This can shut down PFC and makes it difficult for these individuals focus.

If someone suffering from anxiety or ADD, their symptoms are usually more difficult to manage than those of someone who does not suffer from anxiety. This is because treatments for ADD/ADHD, which are designed to stimulate brain activity, can increase anxiety in people who have anxious ADD.

Amen Clinics psychiatrists employ functional neuroimaging techniques, such as SPECT scanning, to determine which areas of the brain are high and/or low levels of activity. This helps them differentiate between the seven different types of ADD and determine the best treatment for adult adhd for each patient.

A psychiatrist will collect an entire medical record and conduct a physical exam to diagnose ADD/ADHD. In addition, he or she may ask questions about mood and behavior to assess a patient's overall functioning. Sometimes, medications are used to treat ADD/ADHD, however, most patients require other therapies as well, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or nutrition and exercise, sleep strategies, desensitization, and other relaxation techniques. This can help improve their ability to manage their emotions and improve their overall function.

Temporal Lobe ADD

This type of ADD affects the temporal lobe of the brain which is responsible for memory and mood. This kind of ADD is manifested by a lack of learning and storing information and [empty] mood swings, as well as severe anger or aggression. They also are often affected by various sensory issues, such as feeling like they have deja vu, or experiencing shadows or objects changing shapes, and hearing sounds others don't. They tend to be sensitive and angry and are often overstimulated by certain activities, like computer screens or crowds.

The symptoms of this type of ADD are similar to those of Classic ADD, including short attention spans, disorganization, difficulty following directions or staying focused, and procrastinating. This kind of ADD does not cause an excessive amount of impulsivity or hyperactivity. This type of ADD is more prevalent in females. People suffering from this type of ADD may suffer from low levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine which can cause feelings of depression and poor self-regulation. The symptoms include insomnia, anxiety and irritability.

In this case brain mapping scans using qEEG of the brain indicate that individuals with over-focused ADD have normal activity in their anterior cingulate gyrus, the brain's "gear shifter," but they are having trouble shifting gears. They aren't able to shift from one task or thought to another and get stuck in negative thoughts and behaviors.

This is a form of ADD that is characterized by people who are highly motivated and hardworking but tend not to pay attention to important tasks. They can get lost in their schoolwork, and their teachers or parents are often tired or embarrassed by their behavior. They may have a difficult relationship with others due to their tendency to be impulsive or reactive, and have difficulty dealing with multitasking or working with other people. In certain situations, they can be depressed or anxious. They are susceptible to panic attacks and susceptible to hallucinations. Medications for this type of ADD are not usually recommended, as they do not address the underlying causes of symptoms.
