Counter Strike New Revealed

Valve finally announced Counter Strike New after weeks of rumors. It's an update for CS:GO that will put the game on the Source 2 engine and make some significant visual changes.

It also includes the ability to use smoke grenades that respond and sub-tick updates for servers. It's made a lot armchair gamers go crazy but it's actually an upgrade for the average player.

Smokes

Counter Strike New has a huge update that will change the way smokes function in the game. The changes, which are dubbed responsive smokes, cs2 will be an important game changer. Smokes will expand to fill spaces and move around objects on the map. They will also react with the lighting of the games, making them appear more real. Smokes will also to interact with game events. This will provide new tactical opportunities. Bullets, for example, will push smoke in order to temporarily clear sightlines. Hex grenade blasts will also disperse smoke obstruction.

Smokes will be more dynamic in the game. In the past, smokes were a fixed form that was limited in terms of how far they could be pushed and how much vision they blocked. However, the new smokes will now grow to cover the space they're in and hinder the player's view when they are within the area. This is a major improvement that will make the game dynamic and provide both sides with the same level of visibility.

Smokes also react to the lighting as well as the weapons and the surroundings of the world. This makes the smoke appear more realistic and allow players to use it in a variety of ways to gain an advantage over their opponents. This is especially beneficial during the chaotic 5v5 battles which are bound to occur on every map.

Smokes are no longer a one-way. This was a major problem in CSGO, as it allowed players to see the position of their opponents behind the smoke. Twistzz is a renowned CS:GO professional who claims that the new system makes CS2 more fair for both teams.

Other minor changes include adjusting the vertical position of smoke particles in order to minimize the visibility of edges and changing the smoke overlay visuals to reflect their camera's position. The expiration time of smokes has been revised to be more in with the visuals of how they fade on the screen.

Loadouts

Players of CS:GO can now customize their weapon choice before the start of each match. The revamped loadout system allows players to choose the weapons that best fit their style of play and team's strategy. The updated system adds new depth to the game because players must balance the power of their weapons and their utility.

The CS: GO Update includes a number other enhancements and changes in addition to the brand new loadouts. Most importantly, the buy menu has been completely revamped. The old buy wheel has been replaced by a customizable grid that shows all options for purchase simultaneously. The grid is populated with five pistols, as well as five "mid-tier weapons" such as submachine gun, shotguns and rifles.

Sub-Tick Updates

The world of Counter-Strike is updated by the server in discrete increments of time called ticks. The smallest delay between a tick and a mouse click of a player could have an impact on the accuracy of a shot, and Valve is working hard to make sure that CS: GO feels responsive and smooth. A new video highlights the most significant improvements to the game, which is also known as sub tick updates.

Instead of a 64-tick update every millisecond, CS:GO now uses sub-ticks, or as Valve calls it, "micro ticks", to communicate with the servers. Each of these tiny intervals of time will be recorded by the client and Case Revolver sent to the server, which will send back the updated game state to players. The servers will know exactly the moment you fired a shot, jumped, or peeked.

The video does not go over everything. However, it does explain that every piece of data sent by the client has a date and time and that the server will collect all data in chronological order from all players prior to sending it back. According to the video a CS: GO will be able send twice as much information as 64-tick CS: GO.

That means that if the game's tick speed increases to 128 Hz, it will be able to respond to your commands instantly and consistently. It's not solely about increasing the tick rate, either; micro-tick updates also reduce input lag and latency by ensuring that the server will respond to your actions with no delays or glitches.

Obviously, this is only the beginning of the technological enhancements Valve is making to the game. The company is implementing dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve how smoke interacts with the surrounding and is also upgrading all of the maps with high-resolution textures, lighting and models. All CS: GO weapons and cosmetics will also get a facelift with Source 2 tools and features.

Maps

The next update for Counter Strike New brings new maps as well as some classics that have been updated with facelifts. The updates are currently being tested in a limited beta. The first set of maps comprises touchstone and upgrade maps that won't see major changes to gameplay, while others have been fully rebuilt or overhauled with the new Source 2 tools.

Of these, Overpass has been revamped to take advantage of the new engine's unified lighting system. The underpass on the map's dark and eerie scene is now flooded with daylight and makes the area spacious and less congested. Smoke grenades are now expanding dynamically in order to fill spaces, and interact with light.

Another map that's been reworked is Italy, which has received a significant overhaul in texture lighting, structure, [Redirect-302] and lighting. The new version is more balanced as opposed to its predecessor, which was heavily CT oriented. In the near future fans can expect to see classics like Aztec and Militia redesigned.

While many of these maps remain available in other modes, they're no longer added to the map pool for competitive play. Train is an exception since it was removed from Active Duty but will still be played in tournaments. Valve hasn't yet confirmed whether the other maps that were removed from the pool will be added back.

Helsingin Sanomat is the national newspaper of Finland. Its update has been deemed controversial. The news organization has been a vocal critic of Russia's actions in Ukraine, and the map is based from the war-torn city of Donetsk. The map is titled de_voyna and features a number of references to the war.

In the future the developer will be releasing a collection of Source 2 tools for community map makers to use in their own creations. This will include features such as improved lighting and reading of characters, [Redirect-302] as well as physically-based rendering that produces realistic materials and textures. It will also make real-world objects, like windows and doors, easier to use. The update will be released in the summer of this year.
