If you've tried to change the battery and reprogramme the key fob, but it's not working then the chip in the key fob may be defective. This can happen if the key fob was dropped on hard surfaces and exposed to salt water or even brushed by dirty hands.
You will need to locate an extremely small "key", which is built into the seam, in order to remove the circuit board and diagnose the problem. You can then examine the chip for damage or corrosion. It is recommended to use a clean towel to keep the microchip from being damaged.
You can also examine the battery connector terminals to examine if they're damaged or cracked. If this is the case then resoldering the terminals to their place will usually restore functionality to the key fob. You can also check the buttons for damage or wear. If the buttons are loosened, they can be resoldered into place, unless one has physically snapped.
Interference Signals
Few things are more annoying than staring at an "No Fob Detected" message when trying to start your car. This happens at the worst occasions, such as when you're running late to work or you're trying to collect your children from school/daycare. The good news is that there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue and determine the root of the problem.
Interference signals can cause the remote key fob to stop working properly. This can be caused by things like weather conditions, buildings and transmitters that operate on the same frequency. Interference can also occur when you install aftermarket equipment in your vehicle that transmits on the same frequency as the key fob.
In addition, if the key fob is exposed to salt or seawater, it may be damaged. Water can damage the rubber seals of the electronic chip, particularly when the key fob is submerged in water for an extended time. The chip may stop working and may require replacement of the keyfob. If you have a key that has the ability to be programmed to work, you can clean it with isopropyl and electronic cleaners to bring it back to its original functionality. If this doesn't work then it's likely that the chip has burned out and will need to be replaced.
Locking and Unlocking the Doors
The buttons on the key fob transmit electronic signals to a solenoid inside the car. It converts that signal into a mechanical action that locks and unlocks the doors. If the door lock is not working, the problem could be a solenoid malfunction that requires investigation with the help of an expert repair shop for autos.
A dead 12 volt can also stop the fob from functioning properly. This can happen when your battery fails to charge or if the contacts become damaged. The good news is that a new battery is able to fix this problem in just minutes.
If the key fob isn't functioning after you have changed the battery or re-program it, the issue might be related to the receiver module. This device interprets radio frequency signals sent by the key fob to control the vehicle. If it breaks down it could be costly to repair.
To test if this is correct, place your spare key into the key slot. Then, turn the ignition on. Press the key fob two times for 10 seconds without removing it. The Mazda 3 system will now sync the key to the vehicle and you can then use it as your primary remote for driving. You can program up to three keys in this way.
