Saab Key Programming

Saab cars built since about 1994 have an immobilizer system based on coded keys. A new transponder is required for addition of an extra key, and special programming. This is usually done at the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.

This can be expensive. This is why you should always have a spare key on hand.

Transponder key

The transponder keys are keys equipped with an electronic chip. It sends a signal to car when it is placed in the ignition. The car is able to check whether the signal matches with the one on the key. If both signals match it will open itself and start. Jumpstarting the battery
