It also has a feature called smart mapping that uses multiple sensors to suss out the areas of your home that need attention and then create a clean route around them. We've seen this technology in action and it does a good job of moving around toys left scattered on the floor, or furniture legs that stick out from under the furniture. Roomba also comes with a sensor that can snap Roomba to reality if it starts to wander away from its initial location.

iRobot also added a set of rollers underneath the Roomba that don't have bristles and are therefore more likely to avoid tangles than previous models. These rollers are also taller and can be placed under low couches or beds. They're designed to make the model more maneuverable on different floor [empty] types.

What sets the Roomba 980 apart from other models of this class Its main feature is the inclusion of a new dirt detection feature, which uses cameras to detect tiny bits of dirt.
