Dr Bateman worked on a range of clinical research projects. These range from basic research using stable-isotope labeled peptides to clinical translational studies of biomarkers that can be used to diagnose and treat Alzheimer's disease. She has served as a principal advisor to more than 20 junior faculty members, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate student, many of whom went to pursue their dreams of career in science and medicine.
Her area of expertise is the management and assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD & ADHD including those with Intellectual Disabilities. She provides comprehensive assessments for specialists using gold standard tools, post-diagnostic programs of care, including psychoeducation and advice as well as medicines prescribing when appropriate. She also offers liaison and support to schools and is able to support EHCP applications when necessary.
She is currently a Consultant Child Psychiatrist at the Priory Hospital Chelmsford and privately in Brentwood and the surrounding areas. She is registered with the majority of private insurance companies and accepts patients who pay for their own treatment. Dr Hannah is able to offer home or school visits, should they be required.

In June of 2016, a person named Miss Kelly told the psychiatric community nurse she wanted to commit suicide. She refused to be held under the Mental Health Act but agreed to an assessment of home treatment. The assessor was concerned that she was a risk to herself or others, and did not believe that she was competent enough to give consent.
As a result, the assessor recommended that Miss Kelly be detained against her will. Miss Kelly was not keen to go to a hospital so she approached her psychiatrist, Dr. Ramanathan Elayaperumal. He was a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Home Treatment Team at Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
In response to the recommendation that was made, the Home Treatment Team performed a comprehensive assessment of Miss Kelly's current functioning and mental state. The review included an in-depth medical history and physical exam. It also included a thorough psychological and family therapy assessment as well as a psychiatric diagnostic interview.
According to the report the report states that According to the report, Kelly was suffering from a variety of mental health issues, including borderline personality disorder, bulimia nervosa, and anorexia nervosa. She also had an addiction history to drugs and had been a victim of domestic violence. Stress, anxiety and depression made her suffer more. She was also diagnosed with bipolar affective and schizoaffective disorder.
Elayaperumal claims that Medtronic deliberately did not treat him fairly due to his race and national origin. He claims that his poor performance review in June 2000 and the failure to grant him specific project assignments were influenced by racism or national animus. Medtronic has not provided any evidence that its decisions were based upon these factors. The lower rating for Elayaperumal's performance did not result in a reduction in his compensation or benefits.
