Best Robot Vacuum For Thick Carpet and Pet Hair

If you have pets, you'll require an automatic vacuum cleaner that can handle fur shedding and other hair-related mess. Choose a model with a big dustbin that can easily empty itself.

Think about a model with virtual no-go zones and maps to keep it away from sensitive areas like pet bowls and bed. Also look for models with intelligent features, like scheduling and a smartphone app.

1. Neato D7

The D7 is the top model in Neato's robotic vacuum line. It is highly navigable and is controlled by Alexa or the app. The D7 unlike other robots who struggle to navigate without a map, makes use of advanced sensors and Lasers to create a digital map. You can set virtual "No Go" lines by simply pressing your finger. This means that the D7 will be able to avoid areas it should not go (without the need for barrier tape or towers).

The cleaning capacity of the D7 is impressive. It is able to remove 99.8 percent of Cheerios that are scattered across the floor. This is a little better than the Roomba i7+, which only manages to collect 94.6 percent and the Shark Ion R85, which is able to only pick up 100%. The D7 is also able to move well on both bare carpet and high-pile.

Another great feature is the option to select between two different cleaning intensities. There's a 'Eco' mode that runs the vacuum quietly and prolongs the run time, and Turbo mode offers the most powerful cleaning. The Turbo mode is a bit loud and can be irritating when you use the D7 to watch television or work.

The D7 is among the few robots that can create and store multiple floor plans, which is ideal for multi-level homes. It also comes with a quick boost feature, which permits it to return to its base and recharge before continuing to clean. This is particularly useful when cleaning difficult areas. Neato's application is simple to use and frequently updated with new features. For the price, it is one of the best robot vacuum for pet hair on hardwood floors robots for carpets with thick hair on the market.

2. Eufy RoboVac 11S

The Eufy 11S, like the Neato D7 is sleek and low profile. This allows it to go under couches, beds, and coffee tables with greater ease than other robot vacuums. It also has some innovations that help it clean well and exactly where you want it to go, such as no-go lines you can draw on its virtual maps to prevent the robot from removing sensitive areas like pet bowls and beds. It also comes with the ability to auto-recharge and resume that, if it runs out of battery before it has finished cleaning, it will return to its base, recharge it, and restart where it left off.

The RoboVac 11S performs better than its predecessor, the RoboVac 30C which is eufy and is superior to the ILIFE A4s as well as the bObsweep Bob Pro in our tests. It has a bigger dirt compartment, a longer battery life and is able to clear more debris from low pile and high pile carpets, as well as floor surfaces that are bare. It is also easier to maintain, incurs fewer cost per year and is better able to move itself.

This robot vacuum is not the best for bare floors. However, it is a great choice for those who have carpeting that is medium and pets. It makes use of random navigation and sensors in its bumper and underbelly to navigate through obstacles. It's not as advanced as other robots' mapping technologies, but it's good enough to access nooks and corners that other robots can't reach. It also has two spin brushes for cleaning along walls, and an increased 0.6-liter dirt bin. It comes with a physical remote control with a monochrome display, charging dock, four attachable side brushes two additional filters and an instrument for cleaning.

3. iLife VS3 Professional

If you have pets, you'll require an effective robot vacuum to get rid of pet hair. It sticks to floors and rugs and can make even the strongest robot vacuum struggle. I test how much dog and cat fur robots can collect from the floor by measuring the amount of hair they collect. I also test whether the robot can navigate household terrain. This includes how it maneuvers over a threshold, around furniture and table legs and under the couch. Certain robots are able identify their homes with sensors. They can feel their way around and build a 3D model of the home. This lets them better avoid obstacles in future cleaning cycles.

The iLife V3s Pro excels at navigating household terrain, and it's one of the most affordable models we tested. It also performed well on my tests for removing pet hair, snagging nearly all of the hair from hardwood floors, and lowering its score only slightly when testing on carpet.

The V3s Pro, unlike many other robot vacuums, doesn't make use of a brush roll. Instead, it relies on two spinning side brushes to break up debris and push it towards a three-inch opening at the base of the device. It's a less reliable carpet cleaner, however, it's still impressive given its low price.

The iLife V3s Pro's cleaning capability is also pretty decent. It can do an OK job on floors that aren't clean and took out fake Christmas tree needles and tinsel bits and mud-like pieces in my mopping tests. But it's not as effective as the best robot mops.

4. Roborock S7

Roborock S7 robot vacuum is a great value. It has impressive tech capabilities. The mid-priced model works similarly to a number of top-of-the-line models and is simple to operate and maintain. It comes with a range of top-quality features that are similar to those found in models that cost twice more. This makes it an ideal pick for a first-time buyer or someone who wants to upgrade from an entry-level model or anyone who wants to save time and effort when cleaning their home.

This robot can be used on carpet and unfinished floors. Its suction power of 2,000Pa can handle heavy-duty carpeting. It's even able to clean pet hair from crevices and cracks in bare floors. It's sturdy, moves easily, and works with voice commands from Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to allow hands-free operation. Its battery is a little smaller than other models we've tested but it still has plenty of juice to power most homes.

The s7 can also function as a mopping robot. It includes a 200ml water tank and mopping plates that easily attaches to the back of the robot. Add water and a microfiber towel and the s7 starts mopping your floors. The s7 will turn off and return to its dock when the mopping is complete.

Its companion app is easy to use, and has a slick layout and plenty of functions. You can draw a home-based map or set virtual boundaries the s7 can't cross, set up 'no-go zones, or instruct it to clear a specific room. You can also monitor its performance, and view its maintenance history and current status.

5. Neato Q5 Pro

The Neato Q5 Pro is a versatile robot vacuum that excels at cleaning bare floors. It also cleans up a lot of debris on both high and low-pile carpet. It's built well and comes with an array of navigational features. It's also easy to maintain. However it has a shorter maximum battery life than other models and has higher recurring costs.

The Q5 is among the slowest robots we've tested but its layout algorithm is reliable and doesn't need any extra attention after its first pass through the space. It starts by mapping out the perimeter, and then fills in the interior with the lines of a series. After the work is complete it is returned to the charging station if it was not at the base.

It did an excellent job cleaning hardwood floors by sucking up at most 88% of the dirt for each test. It was more difficult to clean carpets with a high and low pile however, it performed much better than the average unit. It also has mopping attachments for dealing with wet spills, but we haven't tested this feature.

thamtu-robot-vacuum-g10-max-smart-robotiIts maneuverability is above average for a robot equipped with lidar, and it is able to softly bump into furniture and other obstacles. Its navigation system can detect stairs and floors, allowing it to tackle multistory homes. It can also recognize individual rooms when you choose them within the app. It can also alter the power level, establish no-go zones, and display an interactive map of the current cleaning area. The Q5 is controlled via the mobile app, or voice commands from Alexa Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
