Pool Cues: Pool cues are heavier (18-21 ounces) and shorter (57-58 inches) compared to snooker cues, with a thicker shaft and a larger tip diameter (12.75-13.25mm). This construction provides the necessary power and control for maneuvering the larger, heavier balls used in various pool games like Eight-ball and Nine-ball. It's possible that the plug will turn as soon as you set the first pin; if this happens, it's because you inadvertently lifted the other pin with the shaft of your pick while you were working on the first one. If this happens, you won't get the lock open until you release torque and start over. Practice picking the two pin lock until you can do it easily and naturally. Note that while many locks pick predominantly back to front or front to back, there are exceptions, and you may find that the binding pin stack "jumps around" from the back to the front to the middle and so on. While there are a few conflicting theories as to when the game was invented, most agree that it was created in France during the 15th century. The 19th century saw a complete drop of ivory which drove the billiard market to look for alternatives to creating their balls.

This is the material that then became the standard when creating billiard balls up until today. Practice distinguishing between the pin states and then finish picking the cylinder. The objective is to pocket all your designated balls (either solids or stripes) and then sink the 8 ball to win the game. In 8 pool, there are often situations where two balls are in close proximity to each other, making it possible to pocket one ball by striking another. Stripes. Object balls which are white and have different bands of color around their middle. You also need six object balls, which are numbered, along with one cue ball. The two shear lines are keyed independently by a "double height" pin stack, with one set of cuts keyed to each. Raking, in contrast, is a class of picking techniques in which several pin stack may be set at the shear line simultaneously. While this might have gotten the lock open, you just as easily might have pushed the cut past the shear line entirely, preventing the lock from opening altogether.

Overset/binding. The cut in the pin stack is past the shear line. Repeat this exercise until you can reliably distinguish between a binding and a non-binding pin with very little lifting. It moves freely up until it reaches the shear line, where it "hits a wall" and can move no further. It feels much as it does when binding and unset, but will not set (since a binding pin can only move up, not down). Using an inverted pick, what is billiards raise all the pin stacks to their maximum height. Get in the habit of making a systematic "inventory" of the states of the pin stacks after you set each new pin. Keep practicing with the two pin lock, trying to lighten your touch as you do, and making sure you consistently can pick the pins one at a time. Apply light torque while pivoting a long, wavy rake inside the lock, inserting and removing it slightly as you go.

For this exercise, you'll use your torque tool and pick on the two pin lock to put the pins in each of these states to learn what they feel like with your pick. For this exercise, you'll be continuing with the two pin AR1 lock. Now re-apply torque and set the first binding pin. The first sign of spool and mushroom pins is that the lock will appear to be picked, but will only turn a few degrees. Finally, lift the pin that sets first very high before you apply torque. To pick this keyway, you'll need a small hook pick and a bit of twisting as you lift. It will take a bit of practice to find just the right technique. You may need to turn the pick a bit to fully lift the pins. Now release torque and try again, but this time lift the pins as little as you can when you test them, while still distinguishing between the two states. Again, try to find and lift all the pins with the different hook picks without applying any torque.
